Working at EKWC
Workshop
- The workshops are open to the participants 24 hours a day.
- In your 5th week, there will be a meeting with the advisors to have a look at the planning.
- Each participant has to inform him/herself of the current safety instructions and is obliged to follow these safety instructions.
- Two times a year, the EKWC has a fire safety drill in order to train the staff in the fire safety procedures. You might experience a drill during your residency. When this happens please follow the instructions of the staff.
- Some machines may be operated by staff members only because of safety hazards.
- Each participant is supposed to leave the work space, tools and machinery clean after using. The participant is obliged to keep his studio clean in such a way that dust and filth spread as little as possible to other areas in the building.
- In case of absence, the participant has to inform staff and other participants by leaving a note on the message board in the workshop.
- Each participant is obliged to do everything in their power to avoid (noise) disturbance for others, both participants and staff. Therefore, it is strongly advised to use earphones when listening to music in studios or apartments.
- Materials are supplied by the EKWC. Certain materials can only be obtained when the advising staff is present. Materials brought by the participants from outside the centre can only be used after consulting the staff.
- Each participant has to write down the materials he/she uses on the relevant lists. Also the costs for firing a kiln need to be written down on the relevant lists. Once, at the end of the work period, the EKWC will add up the costs of all the materials used and will present the participant an invoice. During the work period, the participant can keep track of the materials used on the form that is issued by the office.
- EKWC materials at the disposal of the participant remain property of the EKWC, as well as tools purchased by us specially for a participant.
- The planning of the kilns is solely done by the technical staff. If you want to fire one of the kilns, please contact the technical staff.
- The technical staff is not available for producing work for the participants. In case assistance for the actual production of work is needed, you can bring an assistant. The staff can help you find an assistant if needed.
- The EKWC is not responsible for theft, damage to or loss of personal property and work of the participants.
- The work of the participants is not insured within the premises of the EKWC.
- Changes to the interior and inventory of the studios can only be done after consulting with the workshop staff.
- Each participant is obliged to make sure the studio and equipment are clean and in its original state upon departure. The participant will be charged € 50 for cleaning when the studio and the equipment are not clean after departure.
