Living at EKWC
Guestroom
- The guestroom is offered to the participant furnished and including bed linen and towels.
- Upon arrival each participant will get 1 key: this is the key to the guestroom and the workshop. A locker is also provided, you will find it in your studio. When you lose your key(s), you have to report it to the police yourself and will lose the deposit (€ 100,-)
- The inventory of the guestroom has to stay in the guestroom and cannot be brought elsewhere in or outside the EKWC.
- The guestroom has to be left in the same way as it was offered to you. Checkout time: Wednesday 10 am.
- (Noise) inconvenience for other participants should be avoided at all times.
- The participant is responsible for keeping his/her guestroom clean during his/her work period, including washing the sheets and towels. The guestroom has to be clean when leaving. A cleaning fee if extra time is needed to clean the guestroom, the participant will receive an invoice (€100).
- Please wash your bed linen on a weekly basis. If we need to dispose of bed linen ruined because not being washed the participant will receive an invoice (€100).
- Guests are welcome to stay in the guestroom for a short period of time, but please consult a member of staff first and your fellow participants. If guests stay three nights or more it will be appreciated if your guest cooks for all the residents.
- In the guesthouse you will find a washing machine and a dryer for your convenience. Please report immediately to the staff in case of breakdown or technical failure.
- The EKWC has a policy to separate garbage. There are garbage containers for paper, glass, plastic and other garbage. Participants are requested to empty their own garbage bins in these containers.
Security measures
- Never leave (large amounts of) money or other valuables in your guestroom.
- Always lock the door of your guestroom when you go out.
- At night, lock the back door of the guesthouse and the workshop entrance as you go in or out.
- Some events at the EKWC attract people from outside, such as Test Cases. tours or other events. Please take the normal precautions. As we would like to retain the special character of our centre, we would rather not be forced to take substantial security measures.
- The workshop and studios are not open to the public, apart from our tours and Test Cases. Sometimes people do walk in through an open door, please help them find their way out.
Entrance
- The EKWC is open to participants only. Participants are allowed to bring visitors but these visitors are the responsibility of the participant. They must be registered 24/7, there is a list in the kitchen.
- Pets and children are not allowed in the entire building.
- It is not allowed to have friends or relatives stay here for the complete duration of the work period.
Kitchen
- You will find a well-equipped kitchen, that you can use freely. Dinner is usually shared with other participants. A ‘who’s cooking’ list is available in the kitchen.
- Please make sure to leave a clean kitchen after using it. The kitchen is one of the most important areas in the building, being not only used by participants but also by the staff members.
- Each participant gets an own section for food in the cupboard and his/her own refrigerator.
- Please do not leave any food on tables or worktops. It attracks mice. Please store it in your drawer or refridgerator.
- The kitchen is closed for general cleaning from 11 -12 pm every day: Please note that domestic affairs will only do the general cleaning of the kitchen.
- Please make sure to load and start the dishwasher. Please unload the dishwasher when the program has finished. Please take your zen moment by unloading.
- Every morning at approximately 10 am the staff and participants have a coffee break in the kitchen. Feel free to join. It’s purpose is to encourage contacts and dialogue between artists an staff members, both professionally and socially. This coffee break usually takes about 15 minutes.
- Announcements from the staff are being done through notes on the wall in the kitchen and workshop area.
Smoking
- Dutch law forbids smoking in all public and working areas. It’s also not allowed to smoke in the guesthouse.
